Or help someone speak conversational English using the Bible
Teachers from English as a Second Language (ESL) classes -- from the Let’s Start Talking or FriendSpeak programs -- welcome those who are looking to improve their English-speaking skills.
Instead of classroom style, you can meet one-on-one with a teacher…and friend.
FriendSpeak uses easy-to-read passages from the Bible. You read stories from Luke, and your teacher will help with pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. This will make it easier for you to speak to English-speaking people.
Plan for one-hour sessions once per week. These sessions can be in person or online using Zoom. In person classes can be held at CARE Church or other location that is convenient for both you and your teacher. You can also pick the time that is best for you both.
Classes are completely free with no obligation. Neither teachers nor students must be members at CARE church.
To improve your skills with English, or to become a teacher/mentor, please contact FriendSpeak leader Gayle Millican at tmillican@carechurch.com. Teachers are asked to go through an hour-long training about how to work with students that will be offered online.
